Grace Kingston (1987) is a multidisciplinary artist; she conducts research in the fields of social media, digital culture, bodymod, networks, environments and spatial-contextual awareness. Raised in Sydney, Kingston's formal study was undertaken at the UNSW Art and Design. She is currently a lecturer at SAE Creative Media Institute. After receiving a first class Honours award in 2009, Kingston was awarded an Australian post-graduate Award scholarship to continue her practice in the UNSW Masters of Fine Art program. Supervised by Professor Paul Thomas, she completed the MFA in 2012, her thesis findings were published in the peer-reviewed journal 'Scandal in European and American Culture, Vol 1’ (Wydawnictwo DiG, Warsaw 2013). Kingston has exhibited widely, including New York, Finland and Germany. She received the COFA travelling scholarship in 2011 to travel to Wroclaw, Poland to present her thesis findings at the ‘Scandal in European and American Culture’ interdisciplinary conference. In addition to the Marrickville council public artwork award in 2012 for her work Transcendent Flesh/Sequential Selves. Her work has also been selected for the Blake Prize in 2012, as well as the Marrickville Independent Artist Grant in 2014. In the media, her work has been featured as the editors’ choice in the Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, The Daily Telegraph, and CNET Australia, in addition to a number of articles in local papers as well as The Art Life blog. From 2013 until it’s closure in 2015 she exhibited at Archive Space, Newtown.
